AIR5077 Phase 5A is an approved project intended to assure the E-7A Wedgetail’s near term ongoing capability requirements by fitting mandatory military and civil compliance upgrades. Key systems considered for upgrade include:

• Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) transponder and interrogator
• Cryptographic systems
• Communications
• Navigation / GPS systems

Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) have been engaged to support design and integration of new capabilities introduced by Phase 5A into the E-7A weapon system. Through life support will be provided via extant arrangements with the existing AEWC industry base.
